Be a celebrity
Interviews with celebrities are fascinating, but not for the questions they are asked about their craft. Even though the answers are insightful, they are too polished most often. They lack crudeness and, hence, authenticity. On the other hand, random, personal questions on likings, habits, and anecdotes catch the celebrities off-guard. It shows on their faces and their responses. I ignore the incidences when it doesn't show.
Every so often, I like to treat myself as a celebrity. As in the interviews I see of the celebrities, I ask myself the same personal questions that the interviewer asks them. Every time I come across an interesting question that I would like to ask myself, I make a note of it. These questions become my journal prompts.
While watching one of the recent interviews, I realized some of these questions are also good prompts for blog posts. So, I will be a celebrity openly now and ask myself some of the weirdest and most personal questions I come across—anything that I would like to pick my brain on. Here are some examples.
- What's the one post I have written that I would love more people to read? And why?
- What's the thing that I would want to buy next?
- What's my favourite board game that I would love to play with my daughter but haven't yet?
- Do we, as a family, have some odd rituals or routines while we spend time together?
And the list grows with every celebrity interview. Keeping such a list has worked brilliantly for me in my journal entries, and I reckon it will work similarly for more open posts.
